Afternoon Drama

In-depth work in the arts often requires more time than is available in class. Afternoon art programs provide that time.

Students may choose to participate in one of these programs in lieu of a sport for one athletic season, and seniors may choose these programs for two seasons. Students electing these activities are required to participate in a fitness program under the supervision of a fitness trainer.

Students in the Afternoon Drama program produce a play each season for the school community. Students act, dance, build scenery, operate the lighting and sound systems, and frequently are involved in planning, directing, choreographing, and producing these plays.

The winter play is usually a musical. Recent productions include “Oliver,” “Grease,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” “Godspell,” “Fools,” “Anything Goes,” and “Of Thee I Sing,” as well as student-written one-act plays.

Students participating in Afternoon Drama receive one-third non-academic elective credit.
