Celebrating Our Winter Athletes

As the winter season came to a close, all varsity athletics teams gathered in Laird Dining Hall for the annual Winter Athletics Banquet. Senior Ava Sawi, a standout basketball player bound for Radford University, spoke of the trials and tribulations she and the girls’ varsity basketball have faced in her three years. From suffering injuries to losing tough games, Sawi learned to trust the process and lean on her teammates. “We learned, we competed, and we won,” she said of the journey to her historic senior season, which culminated in the team’s first league championship in 8 years. Congratulations to all athletes!
