Biography:Will is thrilled to rejoin the EHS faculty after a 23-year hiatus. He will teach photography, filmmaking, and design. In his first tour on the Hill, Will started the Outdoor Leadership Program. He came to Episcopal from the North Carolina Outward Bound School, where he worked as a climbing and field instructor and teacher in the Summer Scholars Program - a public-private partnership between the NYC Public School System (South Bronx High School) and NCOBS.
For the last twenty years, Will has worked as a professional and fine-art photographer at his home in Brooklyn, N.Y. He frequently contributes to The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, Bloomberg Businessweek, and other non-fiction magazines. Commercial clients include Apple, Eileen Fisher, and the John A. Hartford Foundation.
He has published two photographic monographs - EMPIRE and Mental Hygiene- and numerous self-published zines.
More than one hundred of his photographs are in public collections, including The Museum of Contemporary Photography in Chicago, the Museum of the City of New York, and the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.
During his time in New York, Will has been a Visiting Lecturer in photography at Pratt and has given artist talks at SVA, NYU, Bard College, The New School, Parsons, ICP, and the Art Director’s Club of New York. He continues to mentor younger photographers and lead photographic tutorials for individual students.
Will is excited to share what he has learned in his practice with a new generation of students. He took his first photography class at EHS in 1988.
