Hoping to bounce back from Thursday's loss, the group laced up their sneakers for another demanding match against ISL upper division rival Sidwell Friends on Saturday afternoon.
In the opening quarter, EHS could not seem to shake the poor shooting that plagued them in the last half of the Ireton game. The Quakers jumped out to an early 15-9 lead by finishing tough shots in the paint and dominating the glass. Episcopal was unusually quiet and lacking in energy, and the coaching staff used the break between periods to breathe life into the group.
The quick pep talk seemed to work, as the two teams were neck-and-neck in the second and third stanzas. Sidwell struggled with our oppressive full-court man defense, but we simply could not capitalize off the shots that are typically second nature down the stretch. Although the Maroon outscored their opponent in the final eight minutes, the effort was just too late. EHS fell to the Quakers 51-46.
