On Saturday, the team was back in action in the Hummel Bowl against state rival St. Catherine’s from Richmond.
The team had a renewed sense of pride and energy after a tough loss the night before, and the two teams battled back and forth in one of the most exciting games of lacrosse. St. Catherine’s got out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first five minutes of the game, but the Maroon quickly found their stride, and the teams traded goals for most of the half. St. Catherine’s would score quick back-to-back goals at 3:47 and 2:53 to take a commanding 6-3 lead, but Episcopal quickly answered back with two goals from Olivia Sokol '19 at 1:57 and 1:00 to cut the lead to one headed into the halftime break.
The second half was more of the same, as the teams traded goals and were tied up at eight apiece with 15 minutes left in the game. St. Catherine’s went on a 3-goal run to take another commanding lead with 9:29 left to play. Episcopal had a number of great opportunities to cut the lead, but costly errors and turnovers continued to give the ball back to the Saints. Episcopal would find the net one more time before the game ended, but lost by a final score of 9-11.
EHS is now 1-4 overall with the four losses coming from a combined total of six goals.
