The dogged Panthers came into our gym focused on avenging an early season loss. Despite jumping out to an early 11 point lead, EHS couldn't shake the visitors; every time our offense found its flow, Holton-Arms answered back with an enthusiastic run of their own. The team remained poised, though, and stuck to its core principles of defense, rebounding, and execution.
Our patience and composure finally paid off in the fourth quarter. Kailyn Shepherd '19 finished a perfect layup in the opening seconds that sparked a 20-6 run. Sophie Singletary '18 used her athleticism and defensive savvy to frustrate Holton-Arms in the full court which led to a slew of open layups for the Maroon. The team also showed how well-conditioned they are, running circles around the Panthers in the closing minutes. When the final buzzer sounded, we found ourselves on the winning side of a 59-38 victory.
