Cassius Bailey Dixon '49
“My sweetest memory of Episcopal was being an athlete,” wrote Mr. Dixon in 2004. He earned six varsity letters, in football, basketball, and track and field, during his two years at EHS. He began his athletic career at Episcopal with three interceptions in his first EHS football game, and as a senior he led the football team with 104 tackles and blocked a punt in the end zone, falling on it for a touchdown to secure the win over Woodberry in The 48th Game. Mr. Dixon was the second-highest scorer on the 1949 basketball team, and alternate captain of the state champion EHS track and field team his senior year. He was voted Best Football Player, Best All-Around Athlete, and Hardest Working Athlete, and was runner up for Best Track Man in the 1949 Senior Poll. Mr. Dixon also received the Rinehart Medal for athletic worth and the Jack Buchanan Medal for football his senior year.

After EHS, he attended Georgia Tech, where he played on a National Championship football team and lettered in track and field.
