Junior Coever Dixon Separates Fact from Fiction

Coever Dixon ’26 recently gave a compelling presentation called “News Smarts: Sifting Fact from Fiction in a World of Information.” Speaking to an audience of freshmen on the cusp of their first high-school research paper, the senior and president of Episcopal’s History Club shared what she has learned over her years at EHS. “I want you to understand the digital world around you,” she told the younger students as she cautioned them against not fact-checking what they read on the internet. “It’s so important to discern real from fake.” Dixon referenced the upcoming presidential election, along with the advancement of artificial intelligence and deep fake technology, saying that “it’s doubly important now to know where we’re getting our information.” In her presentation, she shared resources like bias-checking site AllSides (founded by John Gable ’83), fact-checking site Snopes, and March Library’s own website — all of which will surely help the next generation of Episcopal students be better informed digital citizens.
