Shantell Norissa Mori Bingham ’11

Shantell Norissa Mori Bingham ’11 had a stellar high school track career, showcasing her exceptional talent and dedication and earning her the James H. Fannon Jr. Family Award for Athletic Worth at her graduation. During her sophomore year, she made a remarkable debut in indoor track, securing first place in the 55-meter at both the VISAA Indoor Championships and the Hoxton Invitational and first-place in the 55-meter hurdles. During the outdoor season, she continued her dominance by winning the 100-meter hurdles at the ISL Championships and placing second in the 100-meter dash. 

During her junior season, Bingham excelled in indoor track & field, where she won the 55-meter hurdles at the VISAA Indoor Championships and the Hoxton Invitational. She also achieved second place in the 55 meter and third place in the 4x200m relay at the VISAA Indoor Championships. Her outdoor track performance was equally impressive, with first-place finishes in the 100-meter and 100-meter hurdles at the ISL Championships, setting a conference meet record in the latter. Bingham also placed second in the 300-meter hurdles and third in the long jump. At the VISAA Championships, she won the 100-meter hurdles, setting a state meet record and finished second in the 100-meter. Her outstanding performances earned her the Alexandria Sportsman Club Co-Athlete of the Year for track & field.

Bingham’s senior year was a testament to her resilience and continued excellence. She secured first place in eight out of nine 55-meter dash indoor races, including victories at the VISAA Indoor Championships and Hoxton Invitational. She qualified for the Nike Indoor Nationals in New York City, where she reached the 55-meter hurdles final. During the outdoor season, Bingham dominated the ISL Championships by winning the 100 meters, 200 meters, 100-meter hurdles, and long jump, scoring 41 individual points and leading her team to a historic third-place finish. She also excelled at the VISAA Championships, winning the 100 meters and 200 meters and placing second in the 4x100m relay. Her senior year accolades included being named Alexandria Sportsman’s Club Track & Field Athlete of the Year and receiving All-MET honors. As of 2024, Bingham still holds multiple EHS school records and VISAA State meet records, cementing her legacy as a track & field standout.
