Weekend Activities
Experience the nation's capital through our incredible weekend activities programs. Take advantage of opportunities to see musicals at the Kennedy Center, root for the home team at a professional sporting event, or find your zen through a yoga class. These are just some examples of what EHS students experience living ten minutes away from Washington D.C.
Location, Location, Location!
Our 130-acre campus, just outside Washington, D.C., affords access to all the artistic and cultural resources of our nation's capital. Old Town Alexandria and Washington, D.C., offer a plethora of museums, theaters, restaurants, shopping, professional sporting events, and festivals and cultural events.Off-campus activities may include trips to the Kennedy Center, the National Theatre, the Smithsonian, National Zoo, Georgetown shopping district, Washington Nationals and Capitals games, Pentagon City and Tysons Corner shopping malls, Kings Dominion amusement park, movies, restaurants, and outdoor activities and excursions, such as skiing and ice skating.
While the vast majority of activities are offered free of charge, a fee is charged for several outings each year to help offset the full cost. Activities that require a fee are noted with an asterisk (*) on the Activities page. Financial assistance is available for all activities that require a fee; students interested in assistance should contact Mrs. Jeannie White, director of activities, transportation & signature program logistics.
While the faculty activities committee plans a full calendar of weekend activities, there are lots of additions throughout the year that are the result of student initiative. The activities committee is always looking for new ideas and is open to suggestions from the community!
